Mr. Lif - Emergency Rations
&
The Mighty Underdogs - The Prelude

hola, folks. what a month, what a month.  they're closing an important hospital in the west village and quite a few new yorkers aren't happy about it.   so i've been distracted--for good reasons--but distracted nonetheless.  anyway, apologies for the late post, but, voila--my april contribution to mplm(!):

two ep blasts of under-the-radar hip hop that hearken back to the days when the genre was about lyrical, verbal and musical dexterity.  so i'll say no more.  just feast your ears on the one & only mr. lif (he's been in my ear all month), w/ an older fave, 'emergency rations'.  and the mighty underdogs, featuring the amazing gift of gab from blackalicious (checkout blackalicious', 'blazing arrow', sometime when you get a chance), and also a special, cool appearance by ladybug mecca from digable planets.   that's it, hope all's well & écoutez s'il vous plaît:

emergency rations
the prelude

(yeah, maybe 'the prelude' should have (logically) gone first, but that's not the order in which i've been listening to them.  besides, when it comes to music, illogic must have its say.)
